Name – Saw Htoo Hay Kaw
Position – Dean of U Way Klo Student Dorm
Saw Htoo Hay Kaw has been the dean of this dorm for two years. He said, “There was 2 to 3
times in 2022 where we needed to hide in the bush and sleep. The planes would come several
times to bomb the area. Villagers and students must flee for their life when they heard and saw
the plane flying across their places.”
The students who stay in our dorm have come from very remote mountain areas in
Myanmar to live in the U Way Klo Dorm. Most of them did not have a school in their village
because of the war. Others have come from very impoverished areas and their parents could
not support them financially to go to school.
Saw Htoo Hay Kaw went to an Adventist school when he was young. He loved to study
the Bible and learned many life lessons from the stories he was hearing for the first time.
He said, “There was one time that we all nearly got killed as we were in the school. The
enemy came very close to our place, and we barely had enough time to run for our lives.”
He saw how God has protected him in that dangerous encounter with the enemy troops
and decided to accept the Lord and became a Seventh-day Adventist.
Through his many dangerous and difficult experiences, Saw Htoo Hay Kaw has
committed to provide a safe, Christian place where children can stay and go to school. There
are six students that live with him and his wife this year.
Saw Htoo Hay Kaw and his wife request that we help them establish a place where
children can stay and hear about God. They need a new dorm building made from wood with a
tin roof for the students to stay in.
